Bio

Catherine recently completed an MSc in Psychology with distinction at the University of Gloucestershire, specialising in attention and decision making. She has been involved in several projects researching situational awareness in complex environments and high-pressure situations. She has joined the AAPS CDT to research interactions between different classes of road users and how the introduction of autonomous technologies, driver assistance systems, and ‘smart’ infrastructure may influence these interactions. She is particularly interested in how changes to propulsion systems may impact vulnerable road users, such as cyclists and pedestrians, and how they interact with vehicles.

Name Description Date
AAPS ITT1

AAPS ITT1 took place in collaboration with external partners from AVL in the centre of Bath. Academics, students and industry representatives work collaboratively in groups throughout the week to describe and formulate real-life industrial problems into research proposals. During the ITT Students gained research distillation, presentation and group working skills.

Peer Mentor Training - Cohort 1

Each student is assigned a peer mentor when they join the programme, and then subsequently become a peer mentor to the following intake of students. Peer mentoring training is delivered by the Student Union to provide students with key insights on how to be a good mentor such as being a good active listener and a set of psychological models that can be used to encourage reflective discussions.
