Jessica Ohren
AAPS Engagement Manager
Jess is the AAPS Engagement Manager, where she plays a central role in shaping an inclusive, supportive, and inspiring environment for doctoral researchers within the EPSRC AAPS CDT. Drawing on extensive experience within both AAPS and the wider University, Jess leads initiatives that strengthen student engagement, wellbeing, community-building, and professional development across the doctoral journey. Through her time in AAPS, Jess has contributed to several team and individual recognitions.
Jess graduated from the University of Winchester before working in a number of Financial and Administrative roles at the Isle of Wight Council and at the University of Bath.
Her role as Centre Co-Ordinator for the SAMBa CDT in the Department of Mathematical Science was invaluable experience in supporting the initial set up of the AAPS CDT in 2019 as the Student Experience and Programmes Officer. In this role, Jess managed the student lifecycle from beginning to end, setting up key processes for the early cohorts, supporting the day-to-day operations and managing strategic and operational projects to benefit the student experience.
In her spare time, Jess can usually be found sharing good food, and drinks with friends, planning her next getaway, or enjoying live music, theatre and comedy. Having grown up on the Isle of Wight, she also loves nothing more than taking her dog, Rupert, for long walks along the beach.
